Lately….

DSC_1392

Hi everyone!

I haven’t had a chance to post anything lately because work has picked up.  Also,  it has been raining off and on here in Cuenca, Ecuador so it makes it hard to do any exploring.  We are finally going to make it all the way into to Cajas National Park (YAY!). So you can only imagine how excited I am, especially to take some beautiful pictures!  We also might make it to another mountain before we head to our next destination.

So stay tuned the next few days for some highlights! I look forward to sharing them with you all!

~XOXO,

El Pase Del Niño

Hi everyone!

From time to time, Alan and I will visit local cafés to get some work done and enjoy a latte or cappuccino or two. I know we are travelling, but we still need WiFi! And it’s nice sometimes to feel some familiarity in a place that has such a different culture and pace of life to “home” – sipping on a coffee together between adventures is a way to unwind and reflect, as well as work on this blog for you guys and other projects.

How To Clean Your Brushes

DSC_1527

Hi everyone!

I wanted to do a little step by step on how to wash your make up brushes.  Some of you may already know how, but hopefully you find something useful here.

How do you wash your make up brushes?

Also, I highly recommend doing this at least once or twice a month to keep your brushes clean, soft, and free from bacteria.

Three King’s Day

DSC_1499

Hi everyone!!

On January 6th, we were invited by a family member of our lovely hosts to celebrate Reyes Magos (or Epiphany’s Day, known elsewhere are Three King’s Day). Alan and I went along for the ride and caught the tail end of the festivities, between 9ish and 10.45pm. We had missed a couple of hours but it was still a really fun experience.

Home away from home

IMG_4512

Hi everyone!!

I’ve already mentioned how we have been using Airbnb to find places to stay, as opposed to our well-loved, but sort of out of date, Lonely Planet book. The home we are staying at right now has really proved to me why Airbnb is such a success – there is really no other way that we would have found this amazing place.

Our trip to “Cajas”

Hi everyone!

Today, Alan and I attempted to explore Cajas National Park – I say “attempted” because we actually ended up in the wrong place because of a misunderstanding with the taxi driver. We asked him to take us to “Cajas”, which, it turns out, is different to Cajas National Park! Where we ended up kind of looked like a national park, and it only took us five hours to realize we weren’t where we wanted to be…

Tour de Cuenca, Ecuador

DSC_1399-2

Hi, everyone!

So, right now we are in Ecuador, and today decided to go on a bus tour of Cuenca, a beautiful city with incredible architecture. Alan and I always wanted to “do” a bus tour back in Chicago, but who wants to feel like a tourist in their own city? Although we celebrated Alan’s 30th birthday with a boat tour with his parents – the fact that they were visiting us made us feel less weird about the tourist-y aspect, I suppose!

Time in Colombia

IMG_1165

Hi everyone!

Three and half years ago, Alan and I spent four months backpacking through India, using a Lonely Planet book to guide us for the trip, and we also used a Lonely Planet guide for our tour through Central America. Lonely Planet is an absolute godsend for travelers and gives a lot of great advice on where to eat, must-see places, and recommendations on where to stay. It’s been a while since we picked up our beloved guidebook, though, and it’s safe to say things change pretty quickly, even in places where the pace of life is a lot slower than back home.
